Creating Links
Once you have set up link search, you need to automatically generate links when users check in new documents.
Caution: If you do not add links as users check in documents, you will have to contact RJS Software for custom programming to back-fill the links for all existing documents. It is much easier to include links as you upload documents right from the beginning.
Depending on which situation you are using links for, links may be generated by default or you may need an exit program:
- Situation 1 in Planning How to Set Up Link Search: If you are including multiple values in the same search key:
When a user checks in a document with multiple values in a search key that are separated by the delimiter you chose in Setting Up Link Search, WebDocs automatically creates the links. You do not have to do any further set-up. - Situation 2 in Planning How to Set Up Link Search: If you are linking related documents:
You need to write an exit program to automatically generate links as users check in documents. For more information, see Appendix D: Using Exit Points. If you do not have the CL programming experience to write exit programs, contact RJS Software about CL programming services. - Situation 3 in Planning How to Set Up Link Search: If you need more than 10 search keys:
You need to write an exit program to automatically generate links as users check in documents. For more information, see Appendix D: Using Exit Points. If you do not have the CL programming experience to write exit programs, contact RJS Software about CL programming services.
Note: Users can also enter links manually. For more information, see the WebDocs - iSeries Edition User Guide: http://support.rjssoftware.com/product/webdocs-iseries#documentation.
