Installing HelpSystems Insite on Linux or Power Linux Servers
Before You Install
Installing HelpSystems Insite allows you to access your HelpSystems products through a web browser interface. Currently, Insite allows you to access the following products:
- Access Authenticator 1.0 or higher
- Authority Broker 4.18 or higher
- Automate BPA Server 10.5 or higher
- Automate Schedule 4.3 or higher
- Crypto Complete 3.5.8 or higher
- GoAnywhere MFT 5.7.0 or higher
- Iniste Analytics 1.0 or higher
- Password Self Help 3.001 or higher
- Powertech Event Manager 6.1 or higher
- Powertech Network Security R7M04 or higher
- Robot Network R11M00 or higher
- Robot Schedule R10M30 or higher

Vityl IT & Business Monitoring 1.0 or higher
Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements before installing Insite on your Linux or Power Linux servers.

You can download the installer from the My Downloads page on our website. The installer is available whether you 're requesting a free trial of our software, updating your software, or converting your software.

If you install the HelpSystems Insite software as root, it 's installed into /opt/insite/server. If you don 't install as root, it's installed into /home/USERNAME/insite/server. Note: If you're doing an update, the existing installation will be moved from **/helpsysweb/** to **/insite/**

The installer uses the default values for all ports (assuming none are already in use, in which case it decrements the port's value until an open port is found). You can manually override these port assignments.

Before installing, be sure you're using the GNU Tar. That's the version supported by Insite.
Installing HelpSystems Insite
Complete the following steps to download and install HelpSystems Insite on your Linux server. Root or sudo access is required in order to install.

Download the insite_install.tar file to a temporary directory on your system (/tmp).

Use the following command to extract the contents of the file:
tar -xf insite_install.tar
Extracted files will be put in a new directory named insite_install (/tmp/insite_install).

Use the following command to start the installer:
insite_install/serverInstall

The installer displays the actions it is going to perform, and asks for your permission to proceed.

When the installer has completed, it asks if you want to start HelpSystems Insite.
After You Are Done
After installation is complete, point a web browser to the following URL:
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:nnnn/
where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of your server and nnnn is the connector port number you entered during installation.
If you're the first person to log in, you're asked to change the 'admin' password. Then, you'll see the Server Settings page which has a Getting Started section on it. That will help you start setting up the software.
